What I Eat: A day in Napa Valley
2018-10-03

Napa is a sleepy town and when I’m back I feel a little lazy. So I try to eat as healthy as I can because I’m not moving my body as much compared to when I’m in the city. But don’t get me wrong, when I’m back in Napa I definitely indulge in champagne and wine and I love visiting my favorite restaurants here in the valley.

Here is a typical day in the Napa Valley

5:15 am - Wake up

Cup of Cordyceps.

Cordyceps is a fungus (mushroom) found on caterpillars in the high mountain regions of China and is known for many health benefits such as strengthening the immune system, reduces aging, and improving athletic performance. I like to drink cordyceps before a high intensity workout because it’s a great natural energy booster.

6:00am - 6:45am - Move

Spin at HealthQuest

I usually don’t work out at HealthQuest but my girlfriend had extra guest passes so I joined her on her early morning workout.

2:00pm - Lunch:

Kale Salad with Falafels

This lunch was so simple and so delicious. I got a bag of mixed kale with red cabbage and carrots. I used a little bit of Organic Girl Avocado Cilantro dressing. Topped my salad with some cherry tomatoes and falafels with a small side of hummus. YUM!

4:30pm - Cardio

When I’m in Napa, I stay at the Silverado Country Club and it is My favorite Spa in Napa. The spa has a small gym that is convenient when I need to get a workout in. And since the 45 minute spin class wasn’t enough for me I decided to do an additional 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer.

7:30pm Dinner:

PASTA! PASTA! PASTA!

I went grocery shopping at the Napa Whole Foods and found this Victoria Vegan alfredo sauce and had to try it. I’m not afraid of carbs because carbs give me energy for my workouts. Plus life would be so boring without pasta.

There you have it. My typical day in Napa with a whole day of eating at home. When I do go out for dinner my favorite place is: Vegan in Napa Valley: Golden Harvest if you’ve never been you are missing out! I’ve already been there twice this week and probs going back again tomorrow.

You can see how I've easily hit the recommended daily amount of protein (43g) and fiber (30g) all on a whole food plant-based diet. The average American only gets 15g of fiber a day. A lot of people are always worried about getting enough protein without even thinking about fiber. Without enough fiber in your diet, you will have irregularity, constipation, and increases your risk of colon cancer as well as other serious health risks. The health benefits of fiber include reducing the risk of heart disease, lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose levels, and even weight loss. So why not eat more fiber?
